Post by alice »

This is not about established collective nouns, but about things which don't have them yet. In British political discourse it is common to hear about "measures" coming in "packages", or sometimes on "rafts"; what other such things are there?

I hear "tranches" used more and more in common conversation to mean any repackaged collection of financial products.

I enjoyed that in Japan takoyaki (fried octopus balls) came in fune (boats). Now I over-generalise that to everything.
