English speakers don't have a "dislike" of pronouncing initial k or g anymore than they have a "dislike" for pronouncing the z in the word "duck."

Now I'm going to be a bit mean and quote only the first part of a sentence without the context provided by the rest:

This is a rather harmless case, but usually, such mutilations of quotes that deface their meaning is
utterly unacceptable. That's a method trolls use, and
nobody else. Or do you want a sentence like "I do not think that this is the case" quoted as just "this is the case"?

You are, of course, right. I'm sorry. I just saw the word sequence "people existing with MOUTH" and couldn't resist. I should be more careful in the future.

He explained what he did, why he did it, and what made it funny. Quoting “this is the case” in an actual scientific discussion? Party foul. Quoting the excerpt (which has been done on prior occasions, not just in the case of this comment) in a non-serious thread for comedic effect where it’s obviously a goof? Not utterly unacceptable.
EDIT: I think my issue is, Raphael clearly explained that it’s the linguistic implications from that sequence of words that’s the point there and not attempting to imply anything else about the party being quoted. It’s clearly cited that it’s part of a larger passage and that the specific interest is in that it’s notably out of context (along with the, perhaps amusing, interpretations).

I have seen an American unmaliciously claim that initial [kn] was not a humanly possible combination. (I successfully counterclaimed that Germans were human.)
Thank you, that's a very generous thing to do for a British person.

Sure. He did not really intend to mutilate a quote for malicious reasons; I
did say that the case was "rather harmless". But I felt as if I should tell him that he was using a technique often used for malicious purposes, and characteristic of trolls. And this is of course not an actual scientific discussion, so the standards for such discussions do not apply here.
