Re: English questions
Are my understandings correct? Thank you. I've had this dream since I lived in NY city. - The dream remains, and I don't live in NY any more. This nightmare has been happening all the time I've lived in New York. - The dream remains, and I am still living in NY. I've had this dream as long as I've l...

and, without from,

Re: English questions
I happened to pore over the short post (as my language learning), where Travis talked about his dreams. I don't understand the underlined part. I have had very few "realistic" dreams that I remembered for long, the primary one being a nightmare clearly inspired by drain backups in my old a...

Re: Language Practice (Help your fluency)
(Edit (after I read Travis's post): bedeutet impliziert ) 1. Es scheint, das Wort Schlange hat bedeutet impliziert, dass die Form des Tier lang ist. 2. Allerdings ist das lang von Schlange verschieden vom Wort lang . (It seems the word "Schlange" (snake) has implied that the shape of the a...

Re: English questions
Thank you, zompist.
(I checked it in Wiktionary and found that Schlange and lang actually have no relationship in Etymology. It seems just a coincidence, which I didn't know.)

Re: English questions
Does the small passage have any problem? Thank you. 1. It seems the word Schlange * has implied that the shape of the animal is long. 2. The form of an rope is also long, very similar to that of a snake. 3. A rope lying in the tall grass looks exactly like a snake. 4.1 Thus at times I am also fright...

Sowohl Lächeln als auch Kleider können einen schöner aussehen lassen. Einer der Unterschiede ist allerdings, Lächeln sind ist gratis/kostenlos, Kleider aber nicht. (Thanks for the corrections from WeepingElf.) Q: So it's "Lächeln ist ..., Kleider ..." (smile.SG, clothes.PL)? Or should it ...

Re: Dream sharing thread
(A writing exercise as well. Thank you in advance for your corrections.) For all the past, based on my personal experiences, I believed objectively a person won't dream some events that are quite far from their experiences in real life. Well, it's naturally true that dreams do metamorphose, though; ...

Re: Language Practice (Help your fluency)
Nachdem man aufwacht, muss man zuerst anziehen. Es braucht einem etwas Zeit, richtige Kleiden zu auswählen. Nur nachdem man angezogen ist, kann man dann zur Arbeit gehen. Wenn man zur Arbeit geht und nichts anhat, werden seine Kollegen und Kolleginnen erschreckt. (After you wake up, you need to put...

(Both smiles and dresses can make you look more beautiful.
One of the differences, however, is that smiles are free, but dresses are not.

Re: Language Practice (Help your fluency)
I don't get what you want to oppose here. It sounds like "it's normal not to wear anything outside of the bathroom... I was just practicing some words. (The logic in my sentences is itself absurd; the speaker thinks it's more absurd to take a shower (or a bath) being nude than wearing clothes....

Re: Language Practice (Help your fluency)
Englisch macht die Unterscheidung, die konnte und könnte ausdrücken, nicht, so, dass ich diese Wörter oft verwechsele. Q: Is it an elegant expression in German to have only one word between commons? And it even appears twice here in the bolded part. I think native speakers will try to avoid such st...

Q: "nach eine Stelle" vs "zum der Stelle". Does the former refers to "on the way" and the latter, "already arrived", and they can't replace each other? Ist der Satz in Ordnung? Vielen Dank. Ich brachte Einer mit und ging nach den Fluss. Ich möchte gern zum Flu...

Re: German questions
Thank you, very clear. I'm not surprised to see such a clear explanation out of you. Are you working in a college library or something? If so, you shouldn't. With your intelligence you can handle a more challenging, influencial job and contribute more to the others.

Re: German questions
This sentence is from a native speaker, who wanted to tell me that "die jüngste [Mädchen]" is more idiomatic than "das jüngste" for them. I'd like to discuss its word order. Für mich hört sich für den Einschub "die Jüngste " idiomatischer an, ich kann dir aber nicht erk...
