I didn't see many posts about conlangs or non-Indo-European languages on the old Zompist Bboard by you, either. So you got a website or something that I'm missing?

I just looked through a ton of your posts on the new Zompist Bboard. None of them are about conlanging and they're all about Indo-European languages or politics.

Huh. What am I missing? Got a website or something where I can see your work?

I'll go check the old Zompist Bboard.

Also, Kath, if I ever talk to people like they're five year old's, ahem, my apologies. But there may be something to that. Ask yourself: Who accidentally talks to adults like they're five year old's?

Re: A Quick Grammar of the "Approximated Ancient Bantu Language Weds 5 6 2020"

Consider that your audience here is for all intents and purposes the latter, and write accordingly. Writing for both audiences is just going to be condescending, as if you think we need all these things explained to us like we're five-year-olds. I write my posts for post facebook and zompist bboard...

Re: A Quick Grammar of the "Approximated Ancient Bantu Language Weds 5 6 2020"

Well, however anyone wants to present the grammar of their conlang, that's fine with me. I've read and understood tons of scientific grammars and non-scientific grammars, so I can handle whatever anyone has time for. I'll thank and congratulate them and ask any intelligent questions if I have them. ...

Re: Updates on Work on Mark Okrand's Atlantean

So one thread about Atlantean, one about Klingon etc. Oh, okay. I have some memory of people doing it like that here on Zompist Bboard. Maybe I'll have to start a new thread from scratch and just link to the others. Though I'm running out of time for this project on Atlantean. There's really only b...

Re: Updates on Work on Mark Okrand's Atlantean

I've received various requests from the members of this new Zompist Bboard to be less clear about my own estimation of myself and my works, the past few weeks, and even off in the past, some years ago which I do not remember so distinctly. It just now occured to me, however, that to some degree I am...

Re: Conworlding and plausibility

Would you consider this a kind of "model language" (I would). And this makes me curious: do you have a particular method of working in this genre? I could easily imagine having some pre-determined modules that could be placed around the area of focus in order to see how it works. Or would...

That's interesting! I'd like to hear more detail about that. What are ways what those groups are 'thought to think, but probably do not actually think'? I'm talking mostly about old people and children who can't talk anymore or can't talk yet, or can't talk that much. I find that even the best of t...

If you want an Earth-like planet that doesn't have a Moon ... My conlangs are not very realistic. I usually only focus on one or a few grammatical things and then let the rest slide. I just don't remember what I've read about Language Universals and focus on other things in my conlangs. Conlangs en...

Well, I don't understand you. Your post is about Germanic languages and I write to you about how I can read Germanic languages very well. And then I talk about the few other language family branches I can read well, being mostly a studier of languages and not a speaker or reader so much. I think you...

Sounds cool. I don't have anything to add otherwise. I've done some work on comparative sign languages, though, and otherwise do have interest in the concept of languages as made with anatomy differing from that of humans.

So for a fiction project ... I actually can or have been able to read and understand to a high degree any Germanic language of any era. ... I read the part about the logographic writing system. That was great. I specialize in logographic writing systems, for 15 years now or so. That's why my linguistics is not so good and my conlangs are lazy. "Hieroglyphic Studies" is like 1/2 linguistics, 1/2 art history, and 1/2 anthro...
