Re: COVID-19 thread

My view on antivaxxers is that instead of placating them they should not be allowed to even leave their homes - or have other people enter their homes other than people like doctors and like - until they are vaccinated. No personal belief or religious exceptions allowed. I think the right way to gr...

We have an infestation of moths here. I know, not exactly exciting, but they do love to attack your phone when you're looking at the time in the morning.

It's remarkable how decent these cheap guitars are nowadays. No, really, they're not _good_ but for 50 bucks you get a... well, a guitar. a fully functioning, even if shitty, guitar. that will give you tendinitis cause the action is high af but still. in entirely unrelated news, there being too many...

...And after a year the left-wingers are back in power after a sweeping electoral victory in Bolivia. I guess the conservatives were hoping people would turn against Morales' heavy handed grip on power, but I guess the people like his platform so getting rid of the questionable figure at the top ju...

Re: Scratchpad: The Eternal Wastes

I get a strong 'sword and sorcery' vibe. Perhaps it is because its metaphysics is, basically, what the ancient peoples that inspired our mythologies, which in turn inspired Fantasy(tm), seem to have believed. It's strongly reminiscent of how they taught us about the distinction between the modern an...

It will likely depend on your living and working conditions, as well as your financial situation. Also personality: introverts will appreciate a lot more. I did not particularly enjoy the first round, even if I understand the utility, but I've since moved to a flat twice the size, with a garden so ...

Re: COVID-19 thread

Here we've been under curfew since october of 2019 (unrelated to covid, mostly to exert repression on protesters). I don't think it's helped stop things much.

Man, I could do with a few more months of lockdown though, working from home is much more pleasant than going to the office.

So you get a society that promotes 'manliness' above all, yet views women with both scorn and reverance, honors them as lifegivers and as destructive cosmic powers and as destroyers of men. We'll never except know what exactly, but there definitely were some psychological issues at play here! I don...

So if you and I were to stand trial, we'd be completely lost, amidst people who enact strange rituals and speak an incomprehensible jargon. That reminds me of the astonishing linguistic muddle of courts in Pakistan. First, the lawyers and judges speak among themselves in Urdu, the national language...

Norms of all kinds were violated here, so it could be confusing. So: the sign tells us that dudes were using their penises to press the buttons. The garden path interpretation is that the buttons have genitalia. Oh, okay. And for some reason, at first I was thinking of female genitalia, so that did...

When we replace the king with some dude, that dude is kinda the king already, you know? he's the king, the real king, and a bad motherfucker. so when people talk to the dude, they suck him off a bit, you know?

Glad I could help! Though I find it hard to share your enthusiasm about that questionnaire, as should be very evident from my complaints about it above. Oh, the structure is baffling, I assumed it was random or responding to some arcane, scholarly reason: something like it being a tribute to the wr...

However, if we accept the fact that the conventionalized construction with formulaic evaluative expression corresponding to the insubordinate construction is already mono-clausal, we can label it as a 'pseudo-insubordination', like the benefactive construction in the preceding subsection.

I've kind of given up on buying a nice house in my area: there's no such thing that's within what someone on my income can afford, no matter how much I save. so fuck it. this sounds like a sad thing, but in fact it has been a freeing epiphany: I'm thinking of other investments, like buying a big plo...
