Re: Conlangjugator
That's right, parentheses have other uses here, they don't mark optional segments. Take your pick: o > ò / òC*_ o > ò / òC?C?C?_ o > ò / òC{0,3}_ Note the lack of spaces in the conditions. Adding spaces will break the syntax. adding in random spaces and whatever. What should I do? You can always che...

Re: Conlangjugator
Thank you also for the wildcard "string." Perhaps if I may make a suggestion, making a list somewhere with all the special strings/characters and their functions would be helpful. As the program uses regular expressions, there's less of a list with all special strings and more of a gramma...

Re: SAE phonology and grammar tests
40. CCV syllables allowed but SSV or SSCV syllables not allowed (not including geminates) Slavic languages are considered peripherally SAE in Haspelmath's paper, and they allow SSV. However, they require the second plosive to be coronal, so they have /pt bd kt gd/ but not */pk bg/. The IE preferenc...

Re: Conlangjugator
Heads-up: I've fixed a bug related to adding segments. Now that feature can be used. I'll definitely make use of this, thanks! Out of curiosity, Zju, could I edit the font used in the program manually? I use a specific font for linguistic purposes called ZRcola, which is able to handle a boatload of...

Conlangjugator
A sound change applier. It has features not present in many other similar programs, such as defining custom conjugation and declension patterns. Use cases: Word generation - a broad pattern of word shapes can be generated randomly, with phonotactics applied in the process. Relative frequencies of ph...

Re: The 'Is this attested?' Thread
What is the most extreme case of regularly ocurring metathesis documented? I know that some language (Rotokas?) has a synchronic VC → CV / _# in some of its morphology and that Proto-Slavic underwent {e o}R > R{ē ō} / C., but these are relatively tame. Is there something regular to the likes of, say...

Just how improbable is V[+creaky] → ɹV, maybe when conditional? I'm trying to get from strictly CV to CRV without vowel drops, onomatopoeias or borrowings.

Re: Do you know conlang software tools?
First, to add example (especially relational one), you have to add to separate "example" table. It is practically impossible to read the example except if you do a query. Over some certain lexicon size I'd prefer to type in select * from examples where word like 'lorem'; and have the DB d...

As for two - they come from PIE sigmatic perfective and a blending of -ē deverbal nouns with the non-suppletive aorist of the copula respectively.

Having gotten around to it yet, but this is the approximate structure I plan to use for most or all dictionaries in the future: /*!40101 SET @OLD_CHARACTER_SET_CLIENT=@@CHARACTER_SET_CLIENT */; /*!40101 SET NAMES utf8 */; /*!50503 SET NAMES utf8mb4 */; /*!40014 SET @OLD_FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS=@@FOREIGN_...

So would having [fɪf] for 5th make the fifth ordinal irregular and the fourth one regular - as in, having-/f/-suffix-for-cardinals regular? Just how rare is having an irregular cardinal higher than some regular cardinals?

I've been cobbling up the following phonology lately: /p t k ʔ/ <p t k q> /b tʼ kʼ/ <b d g> /?/ <j> /ɸ s ʃ θ x ħ/ <f s c z x h> /m n ɫ ł/ <m n w l> /a i u/ <a i u> The syllable is (C)V(C), and as follows maximum C word initially and finally and maximum CC word medially. Plosives don't occur syllable...
