This chart was intended for referring to art skills, but I think it's applicable to everything in life: https://images-wixmp-ed30a86b8c4ca887773594c2.wixmp.com/f/9d1074fe-77ca-48b8-acc2-09e5215cedae/d5g8bt8-f176245c-c1bc-4cab-8e0d-0c20194f661f.png?token=eyJ0eXAiOiJKV1QiLCJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJzdWIiO...

Might I ask how one accidentally attends a birthday party? Was he on the way to the grocery store and tripped into the backyard where the party was being held and then couldn’t find his way out or something? Or did he just forget there was a lockdown somehow?

Re: Relocation Advice Thread

Outside of movies and television, I don't think anyone has just shown up in a new city with no job, no apartment, and no plan in at least fifty years. Unless they're fleeing a civil war somewhere. If you want a change of scenery, start looking for jobs. I have attempted to do this, but the recruite...

Where do you stop at? Should we not treat a drunk driver who gets in an accident? Or a lifelong smoker who exposed untold numbers of bystanders to secondhand smoke? How about someone who drove too fast on icy roads--do they get kicked to the curb because, well, they had the ability to choose safer b...

Re: COVID-19 thread

The medical system hasn't been overwhelmed by those incidents, has it? The rest of society doesn't stand a risk of getting hit by a car just because someone else didn't look both ways, do they? By doing these things now in the current situation, they contribute to overwhelming the system exactly li...

Re: COVID-19 thread

That's quite a horrifying suggestion. If someone is in need of hospitalization for covid, then they are at pretty high risk of dying without medical care. "If you aren't vaccinated, then you should just die" is... rather extreme.

Re: Relocation Advice Thread

Alaska and NYC are pretty dramatically different places to live! Both also have a fairly high cost of living. I know you said you might have to switch careers, but regardless, wherever you live, you’ll have to have some kind of plan for supporting yourself. I don’t know what kind of jobs you do now ...

Re: Cultural effects of a mixed European-Native American population?

you could have some earlier source of exchange with america, for example the chinese, that makes the disease catastrophe happen earlier so that when spanish and later english settlers arrive the population is not as severely decimated, and thus they can resist somewhat more effectively and thus sto...

Nonsense. According to the scientific educational film Look Around You - Water, water has the chemical symbol H20 and sits on the periodic table of elements between Red (chemical symbol Rd) and iodine (chemical symbol I). Everyone ought to know that.

Re: United States Politics Thread 46

They don't need to affect all 3000; only enough in key battleground states to change the outcome. How many people do you suppose need to end up on election boards or elected as sheriffs or county clerks or whatever for this to have an actual meaningful impact on the election? Five? Ten? A hundred? ...

If you're talking about local election officials, then it will surely set your mind at ease to know that out of over three thousand counties/boroughs (as well as some cities/townships that run their own elections) in the United States, as far as I can discover, literally none actually refused to cer...

In most cases when chickens are raised for food by individuals, they eat insects, small animals like mice or lizards and a lot of the food waste from meals, as well as being fed grains and the like. There are cultures that eat bugs, mice, lizards etc, and almost all cultures eat grains, but I think...

That would be why I bailed after God Emperor of Dune and wondered why I didn't bail earlier.

In retrospect the only ones I genuinely enjoyed were Dune and Children of Dune.

That's a rather privileged position. There's nothing wrong with wanting to make a decent amount of money (and it sounds like this certification is paid, given Raholeun's mention of a bonus)

I'm not sure it is being treated less seriously than the flu here, to be honest. Flu vaccines are only gotten once a year (and it's been far less than that for the covid vaccine for most vaccinated Americans) and nobody wears masks or avoids going out in public during flu season normally. The only t...

Or over to Indiana. Why, I drove by Krazy Kaplan’s just the day before the fourth. They appeared to be doing a very brisk business. In the end, what is more American than driving to another state to circumvent laws limiting what kinds of personal explosives you can set off in your backyard? Or in r...
