Re: Vocabug, a word generator
EDIT: cool wordgen! can't i define more than one unit ? wanted to do units: $ = CV(F) ! = CF but it refused If you are seriously asking, the key of a unit must be a capital letter or $. I also allow a few other characters. This kind of scenario was the reason I created Vocabug-lite. It's simple. It...

Re: Vocabug, a word generator
Anyway, back to the topic at hand. This is great! I've played around with it a bit and it's the best word generator I've seen so far. I missed your post somehow. Thanks so much, I appreciate it. I have since released more features, some of which I have not seen done elsewhere. Letter-case-field: th...

Re: Alternate-universe IPA
Could be fun trying to make one based on Japanese kana (maybe a mix of both hiragana and katakana, including odd uses of daku- or handakuten, and small kana). Though I think it would be hard to start off, and it still would make use of basic mora unless forced to use phonemes directly. Oh, I know i...

I can't decide on whether to name this tool "ADDM: Annotated Dictionary Database Manager" or "Dictionmancy" ... The former. I am thinking the same, except... I have been thinking a lot about this. What I need to do is to create a library / suite that these tools / applications a...

I have made the changes, it now does multiple glosses delimited by blank lines.

Re: Beyond the SCA: strategies for improving conlanger productivity
Besides the tools I've made available, I heavily use another one: a Javascript program to convert text to html. This allows me to create html documentation very quickly from my Word documents. Earlier I wrote an RTF-to-html converter, but Word's RTF is pretty horrible and produces a lot of nonsense...

Re: Glossing multi-line texts on the ZBB
I'll make it do multiple translations on whitespace by default. This gives me a reason to rewrite this program in typescript, and to fix my consistent misspelling of separate as 'seperate'. OPs program is pretty cool. They mention that if romanisation has a different length to the gloss it doesn't f...

Re: Glossing multi-line texts on the ZBB
I have already solved this problem a long time ago with Gloss My Gloss. https://neonnaut.github.io/ The whole point of it was that Rotting Bones couldn't work out how to do multiline texts using Gloss My Gloss . If there is a way to do that, I would be very happy to hear it. Oh I'm sorry I skim rea...

I wonder how one could write computational notation for shifting tone to the right or left, or just for linking and delinking in autosegmental phonology.

Re: Sound Change Quickie Thread
I always assumed "$" meant a syllable boundary, but no, it's only a syllable boundary in "KneeQuickie" notation. Fun fact: KneeQuickie of course was a play with syllable and morpheme boundaries. That wiki was run by a former ZBB member who went by the name Neek , hence NeekWiki ...

I've been hearing ⟨you'll⟩ in my dialect for the second person plural, perhaps with some kind of shwa sound. I could imagine it evolving into something like this:
| Singular | Plural | |
| 1 | ɒi | wi |
| 2 | yu | yəl |
| 3 | dei | del |

Re: Help originating a vowel system?
I can’t believe no-one has yet linked this guide from the old board . It’s a great overview of what kinds of vowel systems are found in natlangs. With how much people keep referencing Alice's work here despite it having succumbed to linkrot multiple times I feel like it needs to be better preserved...
