Re: Name That Language!
The macrons and acutes only appear on e, while tildes appear on all the vowels. This implies that there the ē is a nasalised version of é, which would mean that this language has a six vowel system of <i u é e o a>; and cause it’s in Indonesia, this probably means /i u e ə o a/, all with nasal count...

Re: Sound change applier troubleshooting thread
I think what's happening is that sca2 doesn't like applying the same rule to a word a second time when, the first time it applied it, some of the elements that make up the conditions of the second instance are changed. For example, if you put in the rule a/e/VC_ for the word akaka , it spits out * a...

Re: What have you accomplished today?
A search for something unrelated brought me to a relic of childhood: my first attempt at making up non-English vocabulary. It was just a naming language for some story I had in mind back then, a list of words clustered around a few specific topics. By now it's largely free of context, which for me ...

You could bring my Australian English idiolect down to 6 vowels /i ʊ e æ a ɔ/ without too much of a stretch /i ʊ e æ a ɔ/ = [i ʊ e æ~ɛ ä ɔ] ( KIT/happY FOOT DRESS TRAP STRUT LOT ) /aj æj æw ij ʊw ʊj ɔw/ = [ɑe̯ æi̯ æu̯ ɪi̯ ʉu̯ ʊi̯ ɒʉ̯] ( PRICE FACE MOUTH FLEECE GOOSE CHOICE GOAT ) /iɹ ʊɹ eɹ æɹ aɹ ɔɹ/...

Re: Rename that language!
This does show one of the problems with naming related languages after a cognate set: you get a lot of very very similar names! This comment made me think - how about you name each language after a word where that language famously uses a completely different word from most other languages? My firs...
