Re: SCs needed... esp. fortitions, lengthening words

OK, my personal reserve of sound changes is not doing what I want. I looked at the correspondence library and made some notes, but I thought I'd ask more directly in case anyone has ideas. For Hanying, I'm starting with short words, so most sound changes will make them even shorter. So, what ones d...

In Indonesian, I pronounce it [ɪn.tər.nɛt̚], but in English, I pronounce it [ɪn̠.t̠ɹ̠.nɛt̚].

Re: Rkou Scratchpad

Phonotactics Initial Rkou allows all consonant to begin the syllable. Plus these cluster: {p, t, k, b, d, g, r}{r, h, w, ʔ} The constraint is that identical consonant cluster is disallowed, and /w/ cannot be in the same cluster with /p, b/. Final Rkou allows all nonglottal cluster to end the syllabl...

Standard Asent'oan has simpler phonology. So I will post here: /m n ɲ ŋ ŋʷ/ /p t tɬ tɕ k kʷ ʔ/ /b d dɮ dʑ ɡ ɡʷ/ /pʼ tʼ tɬʼ tɕʼ kʼ ḱʷʼ/ /f s ɬ ɕ x xʷ h/ /r l j w/ /a i u e ə o/ Phonotactics: CV(N). Re: Conlang Random Thread

How does nounlike adjective works? Probably because of my native language, I associate adjective as verb. As I want to make Rkou grammatically strange, I decide to make adjective nounlike. (In contrast of Asent'o that adjective is conjugated for person, number, aspect, and mood). However, Rkou's dec...

Re: Why do you avoid passive voice?

If always the passive voice was used, and the active voice was rarely ever used, the thought that this would have implications as to how we describe our grammar occurs to me. Now I'm wondering if there are natlangs that work like this. Then you describe it as ergative language with unusual antipass...

Re: Conlang Random Thread

Another kind of horrible thing I just thought of: A language where every vowel has a consonant counterpart and vice versa - it only permits CV(C) syllables, and words are strictly consonant-initial, meaning that if a prefix (with an odd number of phonemes) is added, the entire thing is resyllabifie...

Re: Conlang Random Thread

What do you call this relativization strategy in my Asent'o language. Yeah, relative pronouns: if you've got postpositions moving with the pronoun to the head of the clause, that's the same as case-marking as far as relativisation strategies go. (WH-movement, pied-piping included, is what's suppose...

What do you call this relativization strategy in my Asent'o language. I call it relative pronoun. However, it is not declined for case (There is no case marking here, postposition is used instead). Basically I use special pronoun and special version of verb. These two words delimits the relative cla...

Re: Secret Conlang for Spies

I know it is abandoned, but I can't resist commenting. I suggesting using Proximal-Verb-Obviative word order. Proximal-Obviative doesn't sound strange (That's how I use passive voice) and it even helps in transmissing communicaton (As less information is lost when truncated).
