Re: Modern Sudric: Basics and Layering

Why does the word for eight come from Proto-Brythonic, if this is a Goidelic language? Simple enough to answer! Certain Brythonic as opposed to Goidelic elements survive in the language, and one o those elements of basic numbering. It’s one of those things that tended to be passed down; it’s just a...

Re: Ajjamah Scratchpad: World Map Mk. III

I like these maps a lot! A few quibbles, though: I'm a little confused at not finding some of the place names you mentioned on your map of Irthiron... I don't see Mount Antyne for instance. Also, I think it'd be good to label Irthiron and Baliron. Whoops! Another issue with updating a map from scra...

Re: Ajjamah Scratchpad: The Union of Irthiron (First Peoples and the Tharons)

Totally unrelated question: is there any particular reason why the coastline often makes 90° angles? (I don’t have anything to say about the rest of the post, other than that I really like it!) Updated map of Irthiron right here ! Um… that doesn’t look like that first map at all . Perhaps you meant...

Kingawa: The Empire of Glass

This is…something of an odd world. Over a period of nine thousand years, the people of the Central Valley on the southwest coast of Tortolia slowly but surely started on the road to domestication. Unlike the rest of the continent, however, across which the trinity of beans, squash, and maize spread ...

Re: Ajjamah Scratchpad: The Union of Irthiron (First Peoples and the Tharons)

THE UNION OF IRTHIRON Part II: The First Peoples and The Arrival (NOTE: much of this text is taken from the works of one Afrid Tharsan, a historian from 11th Century Hamhyre. Although by contemporary standards his words lack some political correctness--and this has been reflected in some of the ele...

Of course! It’s a bit unorganized at the moment, but I can always clean it up a little before I send the link.

Re: Rokhana Thread: On the Nature of the World

ON THE NATURE OF THE WORLD It is said, in the lore of the Miser Crabs, that certain types of soul prefer certain shapes. Smaller souls may nudge the bodies they inhabit into forms they best prefer; larger souls, seeking power, may do the same in the hopes of absorbing or allying with the smaller sp...

Looking good so far! I don’t suppose there’s much in the way of prefixes or suffixes to make syntax a little easier, though? Some noun classifiers, perhaps?

THE UNION OF IRTHIRON Part I: Introduction and Geography There are many surprising things in the world of Ajjamah, but oddly enough one of the most surprising has very little to do with magic. The nature of this surprise? That a relatively small island, as far removed from the rest of the world as ...

I like the story. Nice and creepy. So where did the children end up? An excellent question! To which the answer is: all djinn have the ability to spin memories into locations. Likely the children ended up right where they were, but several layers deep inside the Dream, surrounded by a mixture of ch...

On Neo-Kebreni

So I ended up doing a lot of work when I was younger with Kebreni, translating bits of the Almeopedia and the like. Particularly the sections on clothes, in fact. The material is all still on the old board, and on a Google Doc of mine, and I'm curious as to whether or not anyone would be interested ...
