I used to, but I think it disappeared into the ether of the internet long, long ago. I'll see if I can write up a new one soon-ish.

Ahzoh wrote: Fri Sep 16, 2022 11:34 am I made a third noun class, inanimate (IN). So I have a ternary system of feminine (animate), masculine (animate), and inanimate.
But with only 2 genders its just like Lecai.

made some progress in getting my files up to date. as i've been working on the modern gothic project, changes and updates haven't found they way through every document across my notes (both on my computer and on anthologi.ca) and my dictionary file in particular is in dire need of revision. the work isn't done but it's good to make some progress

Now that I have a neuter gender, it is easier for me to distinguish the verbal noun from the agent noun

Verbal Noun:

Code: Select all

Strong:
Pre-Vrk. > Free / Bound
parḫ-as > parḫas / paraḫ
namr-as > namras / namar
rabd-as > rabdas / rabad

I-weak:
yand-as > yandas / yanad
wasḫ-as > wasḫas / wasaḫ
hald-as > aldas / alad
ḥağt-as > eğtas / eğet

II-weak:
dawl-as > dūlas / dūl
rayb-as > rības / rīb
sahb-as > sābas / sāb
laḥb-as > lēbas / lēb

III-weak:
nadw-as > nadâs / nada
rasy-as > rasâs / rasa
ḫaśh-as > ḫaśâs / ḫaśa
kamḥ-as > kemês / keme
Agent Noun:

Code: Select all

Strong:
Pre-Vrk. > Free / Bound
parāḫ-um > parāḫum / parāḫ
namār-um > namārum / namār
rabād-um > rabādum / rabād

I-weak:
yanād-um > yanādum / yanād
wasāḫ-um > wasāḫum / wasāḫ
halād-um > alādum / alād
ḥağāt-um > eğētum / eğēt

II-weak:
dawāl-um > dâlum / dâl
rayāb-um > râbum / râb
sahāb-um > sâbum / sâb
laḥāb-um > lêbum / lêb

III-weak:
nadāw-um > nadûm / nadā
rasāy-um > rasûm / rasā
ḫaśāh-um > ḫaśûm / ḫaśā
kamāḥ-um > kemûm / kemē
Adjective:

Code: Select all

Strong:
Pre-Vrk.> Free
parraḫ- > parraḫ-
nammar- > nammar-
rabbad- > rabbad-

I-weak:
yannad- > yannad
wassaḫ- > wassaḫ-
hallad- > allad-
ḥağğat- > eğğet

II-weak:
dawwal- > dâl- / dūwal-
rayyab- > râb- / rīyab-
sahhab- > sâb- / sāˀab-
laḥḥab- > lêb- / lēˀeb-

III-weak:
naddaw- > nadda-
rassay- > rassa-
ḫaśśah- > ḫaśśa-
kammaḥ- > kemme-

What are the differences between these classes aside from the second vowel in the stem?
Yaaludinuya siima d'at yiseka ha wohadetafa gaare.
Ennadinutha gaare d'ate ha eetatadi siiman.
T'awraa t'awraa t'awraa t'awraa t'awraa t'awraa t'awraa.

That's it. That's the difference. The vowel is the theme vowel of the root in which <u> indicates dynamic intransitive, <i> indicates stative intransitive, and <a> indicates transitive.

The strong-rooted verbs are less interesting than the weak-rooted verbs

the non-future vs future distinction is certainly an interesting twist! not sure i've seen that in a natlang before, how does it work in your language?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nonfuture_tense
Greenlandic and Nivkh have it, apparently.

My non-future and future tenses derive from a realis versus irrealis mood distinction. The future still has some modal force to it, usually indicating intention to do something (e.g. "I will take the trash out tomorrow") and is the tense used in subjunctive sentences. The nonfuture usually has a present tense meaning if the verb is stative and past tense if the verb is dynamic.

I actually haven't, no, but that might be interesting to think about doing, mainly because, since I'm not a professional artist, I never thought this would be of interest to people... would probably take quite a bit of prep, but definitely something to think about. (Thanks for the idea.)

I’d be interested as well — from a purely technical perspective, I’d love to know how to create something like this. Even a time-lapse video would be interesting.

(And I don’t think it would need much prep at all, at least for a prerecorded video; you could just start up a screen recorder before you start working on the next one. It doesn’t need to be elaborate.)

I've started a new Google Doc for my latest attempt to document West Saxon, and I've started playing around with a verbal conjugator script for a potential West Saxon website in the future.

It actually is! I reappropriated a picture I took of the Lovrijenac Fort in Dubrovnik to use as a motif for this passport stamp page.

Coined some new Classical Âirumâli words:
  • irâžalrâ vt. (1) to perceive sth. via magnetoreception (2) to magnetize sth.
  • kàliřâ vt. (1) to perceive sth. via electroreception (2) to electrify sth.
Further coinages via derivational morphology to come Eventually™. Expansion of derivational morphology to a level resembling Russian, if not more, to come once I can get my brain to stop being a scumbag that refuses to hold onto ideas long enough to write them down.

started working on gothic names. mostly focusing on borrowings (biblical etc.) since the native names will generally just follow regular noun declensions. it's been fun!

Made a new verb conjugation paradigm for Classical Âirumâli! \o/

Now one can make such words as alundiřecìĺiqâ “we could hypothetically have not, earlier today, helped to telekinetically move it [an inanimate object]”.
