maybe do it grammatical-wise, if you already want some non-European phonology. However, some of the SAE grammatical features, like definite article and SVO word ordrr, are not uniquely European. not bad so far. however, I have one minor opinion related to the terminology: I think the "neuter" gender in your language would be called "masculine" if it were other languages, as male people and animals would belong to your "neuter" gender. but this is just my opinio...

phonological change, which can make originally separated affixes fuse together, becoming a single affix I think that that plus levelling and expanding by analogy are how most fusional paradigms formed. ok (: you are right, these happen, the cause can be phonological(i.e. merge or elision of sounds)...

Another factor for fusional languages, I think, is phonological change, which can make originally separated affixes fuse together, becoming a single affix, but this is my own opinion, I can be wrong.
